I Was Recently Called A "Granola"... I Like It

When I lived on my own, I ate nothing more than Easy-Mac, Ramen, cereal, and chocolate. I was always over-tired, had consistent headaches, and was usually stressed out. Then I got married. Marriage changes a person's life drastically; the biggest change for us was our diet.

It was a combination of things that got me to thinking about the way we ate. They all started happening around the same time...
1) I started cooking
2) I started grocery shopping
3) I heard a woman speak about preservatives, hydrogenated oils, and about family health being worth the extra pennies it costs to afford eating whole/well.
4) A friend of mine and her husband did the "lemonade diet" (a master cleanse)
5) Another one of my friends did a juice fast to cleanse
6) Another friend and her husband had a baby
7) I started reading about cleansing the body, toxins, and digestion
8) And, simply put- common sense kicked in

How do we expect our bodies not to be tired, congested, overweight, weak, and ill when we feed our bodies stuff they were not meant to digest! That's like expecting a car to run well when we're filling the tank up with milk?! I like to call what I use to eat "fake food". My husband laughs. But I know he appreciates the affects our changes in diet have had on our lives. You'd be amazed at how large an affect the slightest change in diet can have on your body.

In our new home, we are less than 5 miles from 2 stores that help me on this endeavor of eating whole and well. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods! I'm still pretty intimidated when I walk in to these stores. So when I don't have time to meander, I'll go to Publix. (It's literally across the street from our condo complex.) The trick is to just stick to the outside aisles here. If you follow this method, it will help cut out a ton of High Fructose Corn Syrup from your diet. ;)

Your body works hard for you. Treat it right. Give it what it needs. Don’t congest it. The coolest part is that as your body starts to expel all the toxins from all the fake food, it starts to crave what it was intended to use as fuel.
