The date of Easter is different each year because Easter is actually in honor if the old Saxon godess, Eastre. She was the godess of fertility (hence the bunnies and eggs). Easter was a celebration of male and female energies being equal due to the Spring equinox, creating the perfect ambiance for reproduction. SO, Easter day is always the first Sunday, after the first full moon, after the first day of Spring. Some years Easter is early, like this one; the first day of Spring was Thursday, the first full moon was Friday, and tada. But if the first full moon falls on Sunday, Easter is a week later. And, of course, our late Easters are a result of the first day of Spring falling right after a full moon; leaving us to wait...
