Oh The Simple Joys Of Life

If there is one thing I appreciate and love to enjoy it's a good radio show. When I lived in Lynchburg, I was addicted to my Q99 with Dick and Dave on the Breakfast Club. It was part of my morning routine. My alarm went off right around the time they ask the brain buster every morning and my brain started working. It could have replaced coffee if I had let it. On my way to work, about the time I was approaching my exit, I could count on hearing "No Way News". I loved "No Way News"! And Thursdays! Thursdays I looked forward to listening to "Feed Dave Thursday". On my way to work, I could learn new recipes and judge whether they were worth making based on Dave's taste testing. But Fridays- Fridays were exceptionally enjoyable. I always new when it was Friday; as soon as I pulled out of my driveway, they started the music of the "Friday Morning Disco Party"!!!! (Permitting I left the house on time) It just put me in a good mood. ... Siiiiiigh... I miss the Breakfast Club. Dick and Dave were seriously the best radio show DJs on the face of the planet. They were hilarious. I envy those who can listen to them in the car every morning. Oh the things we take for granted.

I must admit though, since I moved to Atlanta, I have put forth a much greater effort to acknowledge and appreciate my blessings. And, thankfully, one of them is the lunch time radio show on Dave FM (not related, in any way, to Dave from the Breakfast Club). Radio Free Lunch is where its at. Mara puts a theme out there, for instance "Black; songs with the word 'black' in them" (this one's kind of lame, but it gets the point across), then listeners call in or email and suggest good songs that have the word "black" in them. It's fun when someone is witty enough to think of a song that might not say the word "black" but suggest it. (Perhaps the point could have been made clearer with a different theme.) Anyway, it's fun to see what she comes up with too, since she does know music so well. On top of the incredible music that this station plays, adding a theme just makes it fun. And Sundays are incredibly relaxing with Acoustic Sundays; my drive to church has been accompanied by some really great soft classics. I love it!

Hopefully this post has inspired you to really value those occupations that effect your every day life. Thank you Dick, Dave, Mara, and others.
