The last conversation I had today, though electronic, has been lingering in my head and now out through my fingertips...
girl: Do you get joy out of God?
me: I get joy out of purpose...
girl: Do I have one?
me: Yes, yes you do
girl: Can't find it
me: No, you just don't want to accept it
girl: What is it then?
me: To love others the way God loves... problem is you don't accept that God loves.
girl: He doesn't
me: Truth doesn't depend on whether or not we believe it. The truth is He does. What frustrates you is that love is not what you thought it was.
girl: It's not fair! He ruined everything!!
me: He made everything possible. He gives and takes away. He is scarier than you realize. He has a plan that is bigger than our life's inconvenience. And He is good.
This is the same girl from this earlier post.
Remember the last time you went to a matinée movie... when you stepped outside and your eyes had a really hard time adjusting to the bright sunlight... I always keep one eye closed when my pupils have to readjust to such drastic intensity. Why is it that when our perspective comes to a head and we are faced with putting ignorance to death and discovery to use we can't seem to handle the adjustment?
Love might be the biggest misperception people have. I hate to think how many people are disillusioned toward God because of a blind expectation of His biggest claim- to be Love.
Perspective, frame of reference, point of view... these terms have an obvious consequence in our lives. It's not much different from when my husband and I play boggle. We can both get 37 words and only have written down 4 of the same. From his angle he's more likely to see words I'll have a much harder time seeing from my angle. (This is why we spin the letters half way through). ...
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that not having the right perspective can permeate your life just as much as being blind.

Em, this is great... Our skewed perspective can cause all kinds of problems... especially our skewed perspective of God... something I'll be thinking about. Plus... that picture is awesome. :)
I think you did a wonderful job. You have to be a bit stern sometimes and you can't always coddle. You really gave a great perspective to someone that might have otherwise not realized.
I enjoy reading your opinions and views!
