I'm sitting on a boat amused by the willing people who allow water to abuse them as they cling to tubes. Watching grown men be flailed around at the end of a rope is pure entertainment. No matter how many times they get flung off the floating tube and skid across the water like break-dancing pixies, they get back on and do it again. HA-larious.
It was here, during this potential memory-making experience, that my mind wandered away from humor and onto something mind-blowing- Buoyancy. The very fact that we can float on top of water in a big ol' heavy boat, fascinates me. Buoyancy is even cooler than flying. Flying may defy gravity, but buoyancy- buoyancy manipulates gravity. It uses gravity to keep an object on top of water, but doesn't allow gravity to pull the object all the way to the earth. How cool is that?! And how often do we take this for granted?!
Physics = fascinating.
