There is nothing I enjoy more than rearranging my home. It's like putting together a puzzle that I can literally hop into and enjoy at the end of the day!
Today's chaos was sparked by the above $6 lamp. (the shade looks purple in that picture. but it's not. it's gray-ish) You see? I bought this cute little deal for my dining room in order to fulfill my longing to move the lamp I had in my dining room into my bedroom to use as a bedside lamp. In case you toyed with the idea of having only having 1 bed-side lamp in your bedroom (and you share your bed with another)- this does not work. Do not even try it.
One thing you should know about me is that I despise overhead lighting. When I was growing up my over-sized (6'3") brother took care of this problem for me. His eyes agreed with mine: overhead lighting is harsh and unwelcoming. So he would just reach up and unscrew light bulbs at any given time... in any given place. We used to get in trouble for being so incessant about it. But now I'm all grown up, and I never have to use overhead lighting in my home again... providing I have enough lamps. Thank you, Target clearance.
So, you following? A $6 lamp for the dining room inspired me to rearrange my entire bedroom... which caused me to ransack my guest room. Which is still in shambles. See below.
But, in my sleep last night, I dreamed up the perfect bedroom... and instead of going out to buy the things I would need to make this dream come true, I went shopping in my guest room and took everything I needed... leaving it desolate and thoroughly disorganized. (our last guests can testify: it was overstocked. the change is good.) It is anticipating some tender, love, and care from me early next week.... somehow I will have room for a quilting table in there.... mark my words. My dreams work magic.
and now?
Now I have my very own bedside lamp! a "new" nightstand, a "new" desk and a "new" bookshelf- A whole new bedroom with the total cost of $6 that sits in the dining room! Crazy, sure. But exciting, nonetheless. Check out our "new" lamp duo:
Hi, Jerz! (She had a bit of a panic attack when we moved her crate)
No picture of where the desk is, because husband made me promise to let him organize it (something about me throwing away too much stuff) and after showing you the mess that is my guest room, I couldn't bear showing you the disaster that is our desk. I have big plans for our "new" bedroom! The white walls will soon be soft alternating shades of green and the window will soon have white curtains.... The pieces are all falling together so nicely. And. I. Love. How. It. Feels!
Happy Autumn Cleaning!
PS. My amazing pictures were taken by my really smart phone, so don't hate.
PPS. If you're interested in hearing the pretty cool story behind my "new" nightstand, let me know, and I'll tell you it's semi-exciting origins... and I'll probably tell you other unnecessary details about my furniture.
