For The Love Of The Game

I'm starting to realize that there is an art to just about everything in life. There is a thoughtful way to approach all things as though they are a form of art where a sense of beauty can be derived. I'm starting to notice that any amount of attention paid to the smallest detail can create a powerful difference in the quality of an outcome.

Coffee, food, wine, liquor, chocolate, pastries, fashion, hooping, graffiti, gardening, cheese, yoga; behind each of these and everything else, there is a world of passionate artists. The more I get to know people who have pursued their passions, the more reverence I gain for these everyday taken-for-granteds (yeah, i made that word up). I would like to submit a new definition for the term 'artist'. To me, an artist is one who consummately explores the object of their affection with no reservations- not for money, not for what can be gained, but for the love of the game.

There is a science an artist seeks in order to maintain the virtue of his love and cultivate all it's possible beauty. An artist is careful to not disturb the purity of his love. He prioritizes time and money specifically for his passion. He becomes enamored by the object of his obsession and learns everything he can about it. An artist enjoys playing with his love and learning how it responds to his touch.  I'm fascinated by the idea of wholeheartedly devoting oneself to a thing with which one is absolutely head-over-heals in love- just because. There is great verisimilitude in the love of an artist.

Wouldn't it be nice if the love between a man and a woman was approached as an art?
