I'm Brilliant!

So, I started a new job not long before Christmas. At this job, I have to wear black dress pants, a blue shirt, and a red tie. I also have to stand for my entire shift, which begins my story. Since I can't wear the most comfortable pair of shoes I own, (my Rainbow Flip Flops), I was forced to experiment. I tried every single pair of shoes I own. I settled on these tan clog-like shoes that I have had for a couple of years. Despite their high comfort level, they are falling a part, they don't match, and they look pretty much ridiculous with my uniform. My husband has been prompting me get myself a new pair of black comfortable shoes... but I have to be pretty convinced that I need something in order to spend money on it... (unless, of course, I'm buying candles).

Tuesday night, I was waiting on him as he was finishing up a basketball game, so I wandered around Kohls. I found myself surrounded by house slippers. They have tons of house slippers. They had some that actually looked like shoes. They had some that were only 6 dollars. They had some that looked like black dress shoes that were 6 dollars! "I'm a genius," I thought to myself. I found a pair that fit me, brought them home, cut off the bow, and wore them joyfully to work yesterday. I felt like a little ballerina all day... Until about 6:35 when I had to leave.

You see, it had started snowing at around 3:45 yesterday. Yes, that's right, after about 3 steps outside the front door of our building, my feet were soaked and frozen. I booked it to my car laughing out loud the entire way. All I could think was, "You really are brilliant, Emily....that's what you get. Your comfy, cheap shoes just bit you in the butt.." I laughed at myself almost the whole way to church (I laughed until the first Atlanta driver cut me off).

I crack myself up.

Emily Finkel? Did your name used to be Emily Anspach? (I don't know if I spelled that right).

You like Sigur Ros?! That's awesome! I told mom about this and she was hoping to get your address or something. She felt bad because she had no clue you guys were moving and didn't get to say goodbye. She misses you too!
