As I folded laundry last night, I thought of my next blog post. Ironically, as I caught up on my blogs through Google reader today, my lovely friend posted about how amazing her husband is. I love when a kindred spirit talks about how much they love their husband. I love it because I know it's not all cotton candy and crackerjacks. I love it because I know there is depth and union happening. I love it because I trust it. I ask you to trust me. I do know my husband is the most amazing and wonderful provider a woman could ask for, but this is not where my head was going last night....
...Let's get back to the laundry. I folded an entire load of laundry that was nothing but t-shirts. I'm not kidding. There was a basket and a half full of t-shirts by the time I was done folding. Do all men keep every t-shirt that they have ever owned?! You think I'm exaggerating don't you? I'm not. His mother came to visit us about a month ago. Want to take a guess at what she brought with her? Two duffel bags jam-packed with t-shirts; from his first field day t-shirt to his senior skip day t-shirt. He's got them all. The trouble is, I'm a bit of a purger. I want to live a more simplified life. I try and I try, but my husband is that goal's worst enemy. As I folded each t-shirt and wrote little blogs in my head about these t-shirts, I tried to see the glass half full, "Self, look at the bright side... t-shirts are easy to fold... t-shirts don't have to be ironed... OH, I know! The higher the amount of t-shirts- the lower the frequency of laundry!!!" As I stepped out of the laundry room, the glass was half empty again. Surely all men have their sentimentalities.
I think I'm going to ask him if I can please make a quilt (something useful) out of the t-shirts that do not fit him. This will stop the t-shirts from invading the dresser drawers and closet and allow him to keep his memories. We'll see what happens...

I am suddenly in the mood to comment on your blog more often. Silly me.
I think the quilt idea is a GREAT idea! My sister always wanted to do that and somewhere, sometime, her t-shirts got tossed before she had the chance to do it. She was bummed,
A positive in this situation is that at least it's t-shirts... you know, something useful. Something wear-able. What about a plastic piggy-bank that counts the coins as they are entered? Complete with stars and lightening bolts as decoration? Or a clear glass container that does nothing but collect dust on a shelf? Can you help me find the positives there???
;) Love you... tonight! I get to call tonight!
Also you could consider my husband, who does not throw away clothes - or BUY clothes, but wears the same small population of shirts every. single. day. Consider yourself blessed, friend - at least your scenery changes! :)
I was planning on suggesting that you make a quilt before I finished reading your post....but I guess I don't have to now :0) I hope it works out. Let us know what he says. Miss you!
